Arvind's Livelihood Project
Livelihood opportunities for many special needs young adults are minimal and unreachable in spite of acquiring certain skills after years of intervention and training. Safe, conducive and viable projects to use their training for productive livelihood are minimal and inaccessible to many of them.
THE ISSUE is linking trained and prepared young adults to sustainable livelihood opportunities through viable projects.
As a SOLUTION, we provide such livelihood opportunities through our 3 vocational training projects (Arecanut-leaf products / Masala powder / weaving) and one in the pipeline (Sanitary napkin)
45 of our young adults undergo vocational training under these projects and 20 of them earn a stipend under our livelihood scheme. We plan to include another 20 young adults under this livelihood scheme during 2020 - 2021.
For this to run successfully, we are in need of uninterrupted supply of raw materials and a dedicated project coordinator.
All our students involved are mentally challenged young adults from economically poor families
- are therapeutic
- they induce skills like - planning, counting, quality controlling, packing, accounting and accountability
- teach our children self-discipline, team work, time consciousness
- train young adults to make high quality end-products
- help us to sell these products and fetch stipend for our young adults
- these multiple projects ensure continuous production and thereby steady income
